Become an MRT

To become a professional MRT in Canada, candidates study anatomy, physiology, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection, radiation biology and patient care at a college or university. In Canada, accredited programs at colleges and universities educate MRTs to practice in one of the four disciplines of medical imaging and radiation science:

• Magnetic resonance imaging

• Nuclear medicine

• Radiologic technology

• Radiation therapy

All candidates, whether educated at an accredited Canadian education program (see listing below) or trained in the profession internationally, must write the national certification examination administered by CAMRT to practice.
